Foolish Preachers

Often when someone is approached by a well-meaning person that would like to share his or her spiritual experience with them it generates a negative response from the recipient. After the encounter some will make fun of the person offering the information. Without regard to what information was offered a judgement is made about the presenter. He is considered to be foolish or stupid. Instead of seriously considering what was said, the one hearing might laugh at and make fun of the whole thing. In doing so, the one denegrating the other finds himself in company with many others of like mind. In general society, speaking about God or Jesus Christ or Heaven or Hell is often ridiculed and brushed aside. It is not popular because our world is a fallen world where God is ignored and given little importance.

In His Word, the Bible, God states that this is true in the world. He says He uses this situation to reach those who are genuinely interested in knowing Him. 1 Corinthians 1:21 says, “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”
